what a lucky bet. That’s good if he is my grandfather
A fertiliser salesman is rolling in it after becoming Britain’s first betting-shop millionaire. |
Fred Craggs put a 50p accumulator on eight horses, beginning with Isn’t That Lucky and ending with Dream Come True. |
They all romped home to give him a record-breaking jackpot. |
Fred’s winnings actually totalled about £1.4 million but bookie William Hill has a £1 million cut-off on accumulators. |
Mr Craggs, from Thirsk, North Yorkshire, discovered he had become a millionaire on his 60th birthday but he sat through a family party without sharing his secret. |
William Hill spokesman Graham Sharpe said: “This is the most amazing bet ever placed since betting shops were made legal in 1961. |
